Biman Bangladesh Airlines is the national flag carrier airline of Bangladesh. The airline was founded in February 1972 and started operations in March 1974. From its hub at Dhaka, Biman Bangladesh Airlines flies to 20 domestic and 29 international destinations.

The airline has a fleet of 17 aircraft, including 3 Boeing 787 Dreamliners. In this blog post, we will provide detailed information about Biman Bangladesh Airlines, including its history, flight routes, fleet size and composition, and more. Biman Bangladesh Airlines was founded in February 1972 and started operations in March 1974.

The airline was formed as a joint venture between the Government of Bangladesh and Malaysia Airline System (MAS). Biman Bangladesh took over the operations of erstwhile East Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (EPCAA), which ceased to exist after the 1971 Liberation War of Bangladesh. The airline’s first CEO was Captain Manzurul Islam, who remained at the helm until 1976.

Under his leadership, Biman became operational with two Douglas DC-10s on the Dhaka-London route via Karachi and Kolkata. In 1975, another DC-10 was added to the fleet followed by a fourth one in 1977. These four DC-10s were sold to Malaysian Airline System (MAS) in 1982 as part of a debt rescheduling agreement between MAS and the Government of Bangladesh.

With the sale of its DC-10s, Biman had to wet-lease an Ilyushin Il-18 from Aeroflot for its Dhaka-London service which continued till 1984 when two Boeing 747SPs were acquired on lease from Singapore Airlines. In 1985, a third 747SP was acquired on lease from Korean Air Lines which increased the number of weekly flights between Dhaka and London to three. All three 747SPs were sold back to their respective lessors by 1989 as part of another debt rescheduling agreement between Biman and MAS .

At present ,the CEO of Biman Bangladesh Airlinesis Md  MokabbirHossain and the COO is Mohammad Zafar
